TechCrunch is reporting that Rogers has only sold 16,000 3g iPhones. I’m not sure what the ‘experts’ in Canada were forecasting, but this seems like a small number to me. That is only 0.05% of the population. 600,000 iPhones were sold in the states, which is about 2% 0.2% of the population. Meanwhile countries like New Zealand and Ireland have only sold 2,000. I’m sure there are some stores in the US that have sold that many.

you are off on your statistics there. the american population is over 300 million (304,796,183 to be exact). with 600,000 iPhones, the percentage is actually 0.20 %. you need to check your decimals mr. science teacher, they are really important.
I found the population of the US to be listed at 301,139,947 (July 2007 est.) from a Google search of “US population”. The source was the CIA website. After following the link I see that they list the population as 303,824,646 (July 2008 est.). Those differences are not really significant in my calculations, as they all round essentially to 0.2% (if we take it to a nice round number instead of following proper rounding rules).
I still find the number of iPhones sold in Canada to be lower than I anticipated — having never really set a number in my head to begin with.
