I just bought a book of 50 basic cheques (i.e. no puppy dogs or race cars). The cost? $22.63. I find that completely ridiculous for a piece of paper with my bank information on it. When did banks start charging for cheques anyway? I guess I haven’t needed new ones since circa 1998 since I only ever used cheques for rent in University and direct deposit forms.

what did you need these ones for?
Some direct deposit requests, as well as just having cheques around for that one time a year you need to use one.
your bank will print you off a form that has all of the required information for direct deposits do you don’t need to use a cheque.
True, but it is a lot easier to have the cheque to hand in, instead of having to go to the bank and get this form. True, I do know my bank information (transit number, bank code and account number) to fill out on a form if push comes to shove, but I guess in the end it is still nice to have cheques around until we get a better system for transferring money to other people.
