So Apple dropped some new laptops yesterday, and I must say the new MacBook is beautiful and powerful. The only problem I have with my current MacBook is the lack of video card power, that makes some photo and video editing choppy, and I can’t even think about playing the odd video game. The new MacBook comes with a pretty powerful Nvidia chip and they say it’s up to 5x faster then current configurations. They are also carving the cases out of solid bricks of aluminum that make for a lovely looking computer. Here is my one problem though. My current MacBook and the new models still have a 90 degree edge where your writs rest on the computer. Depending on seating position and duration of use I have been known to get some groves on my arms from this edge. If you are making the top of the computer from a solid piece why not just round this corner to make it a bit more comfortable?
Flickr continues to add photos from the late 1800′s and early 1900′s to it’s Commons project. I have previously mentioned the addition of Australian and American photo collections, and today I can share the news that a Canadian collection has been added to flickr. Musée McCord Museum shares a glorious selection of historic photos of life all over Canada from 1858 through to 1935, along with a focus on Montreal.

YouTube has started an experiment where they are streaming full TV shows over their service. Current shows are offer are select episodes of Star Trek, Beverly Hills 90210, and MacGyver. Update: As per usual, these videos are only available in the US.
The Mountain Goats have released their new 4 song EP Santanic Messiah online and are asking for a donation if you enjoy the album. They are also selling 666 vinyl copies available only at live shows. I’ve given it one listen and it’s not bad. Will need further digging to figure out how I really feel about it.
The day has finally arrived. The most recent release of Adium, 1.3.2, has added offline mesasge support for MSN. Too often have I had to borrow a Windows machine to clean out a backlog of offline messages. I’m now 99.98% happy with Adium.
Google has added some updated maps for the Great Barrier Reef off the east coast of Australia. I’ve embedded a map below that shows the new detail with photos from my diving trip overlayed.
